Want to hear something freaky?
THREE WEEKS TILL CHRISTMAS!!!! What!?!? I cannot believe it. This year just flew by and here we are on the cusp of wrapping it up. Anyways...
For awhile I've been getting a lot of questions about keto and what it's like. I've done some reading on it and feel like I have a good understanding of it (well, to the degree that we know anything about anything at least!), but I have always felt that to get the best understanding of something, that you should do it.
SO, that's why starting on my birthday, January 6th, the keto challenge begins. For 12 weeks I will remain on a ketogenic diet, logging daily what I eat, how I feel, and any other progress information I have. I figure the new year is a great time to try something new and to commit to something... New Years resolutions and all that.

I am not a person who believes that ONE diet exists for ALL people. I believe that we have different genetic precursors which allows for many diets to exist and for people to thrive on. Given that philosophy, I encourage people to try different diets or eliminating items from their diet, to see if they are currently eating the way that makes them feel the best. I have always felt better on a lower carb diet, so I'm taking it to that next level to see how I would feel running on ketones. Also, as a nutrition coach I think it's important to try it so that I can better assist clients with going keto in the future.
Running on ketones??? What does that even mean? Allow me to explain...

Your body is fueled by a few different sources. Normally the most readily available source is glucose (carbs basically). Dramatically decreasing the number of carbs in your diet, means that your body's energy must come from a different source. In this case, FAT. The body will convert fat into fatty acids and then further converts the fatty acids into ketones. Ketones are then used as the primary energy source. There's obviously a lot of other science-y stuff here- if it interests you let me know and I will do a whole post about it some other time.
The ketogenic diet was first implemented in the 1920's to treat epilepsy. Some other diseases it has since been used to treat are autism, some cancers, diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, Parkinson's, metabolic syndrome, and obesity. While it is still used to treat disease, now people are also using the diet for fat loss, mental clarity, stable energy levels, and reducing acne.

Have you ever wondered if a ketogenic diet would work well for you but didn't know how to get started? Join me in my challenge! For $65 I will be your nutrition coach for the next 12 weeks and will help you through this journey. Here is what would be included for your challenge fee:
Initial Assessment with personalized macros
Goal setting
Weekly check ins
Constant access to me for any questions or concerns you might have (guaranteed response time of 24 hours or less)
Workout challenges
Workout templates
Group motivation
This would be a great jump start to the new year, especially to knock off those few extra holiday pounds that always seem to find us! I will be accepting people into the challenge until January 2nd, so let me know if you are in. Email me or slide into those DM's if you are interested, or if you have any questions regarding this.
I am so excited to work with y'all and to try this out for myself too!
